About Hotel Il Palazzo
The Hotel \'Il Palazzo\', in the heart of Assisi, is located halfway between the Basilica of Saint Francis and Piazza del Comune. It occupies the left wing of Palazzo Bartocci Fontana, built in the 1500s following the design of Giulio Danti. The palace, still owned and run by the descendants, preserves at the first floor the central salon with \'telari\' mythical scenes of Antonio Nessi. The ceiling, as well as the contiguous rooms, has been distempered in the 1700s. The building rises on the foundations of medieval shops, inns and \'fondachi\' storage cellars .
