Barrow-in-Furness is just 15 minutes from the Lake District, is close to South Lakes Wildlife Park (the top tourist destination in the Lake District), Furness Abbey, Piel Island and other tourist attractions. And, as the indoor centre for the Lakes, theres plenty to do if youre unlucky with the weather. The Hotel itself has 17 en-suite well appointed bedrooms. | Furness Abbey Founded in 1123, this is the second largest Cistercian Abbey in England. The magnificent ruins, which are managed by English Heritage are set in a beautiful wooded valley - The Vale of Deadly Nightshade. Piel Island Home to Piel Castle, built by the monks of Furness Abbey to protect their harbour from the Scots. Dock Museum An award-winning modern museum built over an original Victorian Graving Dock, where you can explore the fascinating history of Barrow-in-Furness. Carven Park- Barrow Rugby League Football Club Dalton-in-Furness The ancient capital of Furness, is conveniently situated on the A590 only four miles from the centre of Barrow.
