ALT HOtel - Quartier Dix30 (opening September 2007) is the first Canadian hotel to incorporate geothermal heating and cooling systems. And thats not all. Here is our complete list of energy-conservation features, to help make you feel good about your stay:
- Geothermal heating and cooling in every room.
- Heat recovery from air exhaust to preheat cold exterior air.
- Geothermal energy to condition the fresh air intake.
- Domestic hot water heating from air conditioning heat rejection of the building.
- Heat recovery from water used in commercial washers.
- Direct digital control (DDC) system for ventilation, cooling and heating.
- Air quality sensors in all meeting rooms.
- Energy-efficient lighting.
- Detection sensors in the stairwells area to reduce lighting by half when used.
- Main light switch to control all lights when entering or exiting each room.
- Toilet with dual-flush option (3/6 lit/flush)
- Radiant floor heating of lobby and main entrance using geothermal heat pump.
- Low-E oversized windows providing maximum natural light.
- Recycling bins in all guestrooms and public areas.
- The green heating system installed in the hotel will reduce the CO2 emissions usually associated to this kind of building by 430 Tons/year. This is an average of 2.7 Tons/year per room or 7 kg per day/room.
