The property dates back to the 13th century, when it was built as an Augustine convent and retreat. Inside there are remains of an ancient medieval tower, destroyed by the Ghibellini in 1260 and now partially restored. The modern library is decorated with original period frescoes which are in excellent condition. The hotel is situated in the heart of the city facing Ponte Vecchio, next to Uffizi Gallery and within walking distance are many shops and museums. This property has 42 rooms all of which were carefully restored and furnished in a Florentine style and have beautiful marble bathrooms. The breakfast room was once a ballroom and has 19th century frescoes and a view on the River Arno and Via dei Georgofili. There is also a panoramic bar with terrace and roof garden overlooking the Duomo and Palazzo Vecchio, where you can enjoy moments of true relaxation while having a drink. You can even book the *The Room with a View* immortalised in James Ivory s romantic film of the same name, with its magnificent terrace overlooking the Ponte Vecchio and views of the hills that surround the city.
