Parque del Buen Retiro |

| A stroll through Madrid's most famous park, located right behind the Prado museum, is the perfect way of concluding (or beginning) any day in Madrid. This large park was originally built in the 15th century for being the gardens of Philip IV's Buen Retiro Palace. Later on, at the end of the 19th century it was opened to public. It counts some 15000 trees and includes, among other things, a working observatory and three exhibition halls, one of which is the "Palacio de Cristal", a building entirely made of glass facing a lake. |

| Formerly the San Carlos hospital, this building was remodeled in 1981 and in 1986 it was inaugurated as the Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, becoming the main location in Madrid for national and international exhibitions.
