The Essex House Hotel Suites is endowed with a colorful history and an abundance of Art Deco detail. Designed by Henry Hohauser and built in 1938 the Essex House and Suites is said to be one of Hohauser best designs.
The hotel has been painted to bring out its nautical modern quality. Visitors must take note of the lobbys original polychrome mural of the everglades that was restored by the original artist Earl Lapan 50 years after he originally painted the mural.
