Initially, Ayla Emiroglu established a pension and a private beach in 1977 in Bodrum. Ayla Emiroglu, with a keen eye for all things tranquil and natural; created a heaven for all guests. Her original aim to create an inspiring environment for writers, painters, other intellectuals and all, with her bed and breakfast service, continued to evolve and grow, as Bodrum, through out the years. The seeds of the Macakizi concept, continues to flourish with the vision and contemporary mind of Aylas son Sahir. Since 2000, Macakizi is located in Turkbuku and along with its private and popular beach, it is transformed into a beautiful boutique hotel. This unique haven is now being carried into the new millennium and further.
Macakizi combines the traditional with the innovative in unexpected sophistication. The signature is an afternoon traditional Turkish buffet is so gastronomically delightful that its loyal following has been growing for 32 years. Sunbathers and swimmers can enjoy specialty cocktails, sandwiches and salads at the beach bar, beach service will take orders for uninterrupted relaxation. You may choose to watch the sunset from one of Macakizis many secluded decks with afternoon tea, cocktails, and our infamous brownies a la mode. The sumptuous Mediterranean menu, created by seasoned Chef Aret Sahakyan, is served in an open-air dining room beneath 100 year-old olive trees as delicious aromas waft in from the open kitchen.
