This elegant Boutique Hotel is located on one of the finest addresses in Berlin - at the Meinekestrasse. Meinekestrasse is a side street just off the busy and interesting main boulevard Kurfi??rstendamm. Theatres/ cinemas/ department stores/ Europa Centre/ KaDeWe and all kinds of entertainment are available and easily to reach. The building complex of Hotel Residenz Berlin was built according to construction plans by August von Thees in the late 1890ies with an impressive Art Nouveau front. All ceilings were equipped with representative ornaments; a separate servants entrance attests affluent residents. The building was not affected by the 2nd world war. Due to missing housing space the large apartments were turned into guesthouses. In the course of time the guesthouses were assembled into a single hotel which was bought by the merchant H-P Unger in 1982. He restored the building with great financial efforts and focus on the historic ornaments. The once again representative building was added to the list of landmarked buildings. By adding a wing/ the capacities were raised in the mid 1980ies and again in 2010 by dismantling the roof truss now offering 80 guest rooms.
