About Loberias del Sur

The Patagonia receives its name from patagones, name given to the aborigines that were seen for the first Spanish that land in the Atlantic coast. It is believed that the term patagon had its origin in the first native hunters saw for the Spain navigators at San Julian in the Atlantic coast. These native hunters were tall and they had big feet, although it is supposed that the foot size corresponds to the footstep leaved in the ground due to the leather protections used as a shoe. Gradually it has been imposed the logical interpretation that the term comes from the giant Pataghon, a character from Primaleon, a cavalry novel to which Hernando de Magallanes was very keen. When he met the first aborigine at San Julian, he saw him as frightening as the novel character and called him Patagon, and then this term led to Land of Patagones or just Patagonia.
