About Schloss Leopoldskron and Meierhof
Only a few minutes walk from the Old Town of Salzburg lies the historic and artistically well preserved palace of Leopoldskron. It is nestled by a small, idyllic lake with a majestic view of the Untersberg mountain. The palace is known to be the birthplace of the Salzburg Festival and is the original filming location of ?The Sound of Music?. Schloss Leopoldskron is privately owned by an American educational institution and has restricted access. Guests of the 12 suites in the palace, and the 55 rooms in the nearby Meierhof, have full access to the area. Special bonus: you get to have breakfast in the magnificent rooms of the Schloss. Our guests also profit from the Max-Reinhardt library, the fitness room, and the free WIFI in our public areas. For athletic visitors we suggest the quiet tracks around the lake for running and cycling.
Schloss Leopoldskron & Meierhof is located on a small lake with view to the mountains of Salzburg and to the Fortress "Hohen Salzburg". Altough we are directly in Salzburg and the old town is only 20 minutes (walking distance) away. The Motorway (A1) and the Salzburg Airport is reachable within 10 Minutes by car or taxi. the main train station is approx. 15 minutes away by car or taxi.
