The Braeside Country Inn is nestled on a four-acre hillside site overlooking Pictou Harbour and is located in the centre of Historic Pictou Town (settled in 1773). A short walk from the Inn, and you are in the centre of the historic Town of Pictou, settled in 1767. The Scottish immigration began (and still continues) with the arrival of the Ship Hector in 1773. A full-scale replica of the ship has now been constructed at the Hector Heritage Quay attracting thousands of visitors every year. The sound of bagpipes, marching bands, Scottish dancing and local seafood are the order of day. Pictou proudly boasts at being the birthplace of New Scotland. Old stone buildings reminiscent of Scotland still stand, one of which built by Dr. Thomas McCulloch is open to the public.
