About Chateau Des Vigiers
Known locally as Little Versailles, Chateau des Vigiers Golf and Country Club is an impressive hotel, golf and country club set in 450 acres of beautiful French countryside near Bergerac with gourmet dining, its own wine estate, a sublime spa and a testing golf course. This place is utterly relaxed and gorgeous. Wander around the grounds to discover an enchanting oak forest, a spectacular lake and a fabulous 27-hole golf course set amongst plum orchards and vineyards. Choose from rooms in the Chateau, in the Dependances or in the Relais des Vigiers, all equally enchanting yet very different and many with panoramic views of the golf course. Set out to explore the mediaeval towns of Sarlat and the Perigord Noir. Then visit the wine capital of Saint Emilion, and the world famous prehistoric cave paintings at Lascaux. Head into the Dordogne valley to see its superb collection of chateaux.
We are located just 25 minutes West of Bergerac airport and an hour and 15 minutes East of Bordeaux airport. Bergerac airport has a vast array of flights coming in from the UK with low cost carriers such as FlyBE and Ryanair. There are many direct flights to Bordeaux from various European cities including London (Stansted and Gatwick), Amsterdam, Munich, Dublin, Waterford, Stockholm and Basel. We can arrange airport transfers and hire cars for you - just let reception know at the time of booking. All major Hire Car agencies operate from the airports (Avis, Hertz, Europcar). Toulouse, 2 hours drive away, connects with many more destinations. Many guests drive to Chateau des Vigiers. If you are driving from the UK, we recommend taking the overnight ferry from Portsmouth to St Malo. We are about 6 hours drive from St Malo. If you are coming from the Channel Tunnel or Calais, we are 8.5 hours drive away. Some guests choose to take the super fast TGV train from Paris. It takes 3 hours to Libourne station, on the Bordeaux line, which is only a 50 minute drive from Chateau des Vigiers and we can organise a taxi transfer, though some guests prefer to take the local shuttle train to Ste-Foy-la-Grande.
