Minden is a town of approximately 83,000 inhabitants located in the north-east of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The town extends on both sides of the river Weser. The Mittellandkanal traverses the town from east to west, while the Weser flows from The over 1200 year old town contains many buildings in the Weserrenaissance style, as well as the architecturally symbolic 1,000 year old cathedral. It provides the historic and political focus for the larger Minden countryside.
