Our hotel Meteoritis is located in a quiet area in village Kastraki about five minutes away from the centre of the village, near pathways that you can take to reach Meteora and next to the road that leads from Kastraki to Meteora. The hotel has its own garden and courtyard, well hidden from the street, that you can use to relax and enjoy nature. Kastraki is a beautiful settlement located amphitheatrical in the west foothill of the rocks of Meteora. The grey and enormous rocks of Meteora since 1989 are recognized and protected by UNESCO as a unique natural monument. Kastraki is in the prefecture of Trikala about twenty four kilometers away from the city. In Trikala, that was known from ancient times as Trikki, was born Asklipios who was the first one that practiced medicine. The village is about two kilometers away from the city named Kalabaka where you can find a lot of things to do. From Kastraki begins the street you can use to reach to the Holy monasteries of Meteora. Kastraki is a modern settlement with traditional taverns and restaurants where you can taste traditional recipes and authentic greek flavours accompanied with local wine and tsipouro. If a visitor wants to go on foot to Meteora, Kastraki is the perfect spot to start from because he can observe the unique natural landscape while following the paths to Meteora and he can also visit old hermitages and abbeys like Saint Antonios or small churches like the church of the Holy Spirit.
