The building used to be used as a boarding school for the Dalir area but is now used as accommodation for travellers the whole year and as hotel Edda during the summer time. 3 years ago a 23 new rooms were put at the hotel. Beside the hotel is an out door 25 meters swimming pool with hot tub and a pattling pool. There is as well a museum, Dalasysla Folk Museum that contains various items of historical interest. Rooms with shared facility: 23 rooms have shared facilities and a wash basin. 21 rooms are twin and 2 single. Rooms with private bath: 22 rooms at the hotel are newly refurbished and are 3 star category and therefore belong to hotel Edda PLUS family. All rooms are twin or double except 5 that are single. The rooms come with private bathroom, shower and TV. Sleeping bag accommodation in several class rooms with mattress for up to 60 people. No triple rooms available

The hotel is situated in a grassy valley surrounded by low mountains, in the Dalir district north of the Sni??fellsnes peninsula. An ideal place to relax in peaceful rural surroundings. The hotel is situated at the cradle of the Icelandic Sagas. The picturesque country around Laugar makes for pleasant excursions, whether by car or on foot. An easy walk from Laugar is Tungustapi, a rocky outcrop which, according to folklore, is an elven church.
