La Taverna was built in 1971 and was one of the first hotels in Bali. Its owners selected one of the best locations on the island and in the years that followed Sanur grew up as the first resort area in Bali The hotels charm attracted many famous faces, who chose to wine, dine and holiday there. Its restaurant gained a reputation for excellence, with an emphasis on Italian food. Set back from Sanurs main road, surrounded by the greenery of its gardens, La Taverna is a haven of privacy and tranquility. It retains the hallmarks of the success established over 30 years ago. Even its beach has been returned to its former glory after suffering from sand erosion in recent years, thanks to a major project completed in 2003 that replaced the sand lost. Fringed by a lagoon protected by a coral reef, this beach is ideal for swimming and snorkeling and is safe for children. But surfers will also find plenty to entertain them in the waves that crash beyond the reef.
