About La Locanda delle Donne Monache
An ancient monastery established in 1735 to welcome the religious order of the Visitandine nuns of San Francesco di Sales. Located in the heart of the historical centre- close to the Mother Churche- the convent developed absorbing also some private buildings offered by local benefactors.Its particular architectural structure based on rooms- vault corridors- stairs- terraces and gardens developed on different levels comes from its religious origins.The evocative name of Il Convento delle Donne Monache literally the Convent of the women nuns comes from the nuns activities in the convent that used to welcome and coach the young novices before taking vows.A beautiful painting from the eighteenth century representing the apparition of De Chantilly in the chapel is nowadays kept in the Rosario Church.
