The 4 Star Hotel Locarno was conceived in 1925 as a warm and refined guest house. It was inaugurated by the original Swiss owners who named it Locarno due to their nationality. In the 1960s the hotel had become an essential stop for all artists visiting nearby art galleries. Federico Fellini and Giulietta Masini were among the celebrities who became frequent guests of Hotel Locarno. Mrs Maria Teresa Celli- the new hotel owner of- decided to swim against the tide in the 70s- following the rise of the first hotel chains- to create something completely different- renovating the hotel in a modern style with the spirit of the Belle Epoque. She diversified each room space and the decor elements- such as the bathroom fittings personally chosen ensuring guests feel at home. The warmth of hospitality seeps through each element- the service- the furniture- the lighting- the marvelous garden that also houses the bar and Mrs Celli has subsequently incorporated the historical building next door. Since the 70s to this day the Hotel has been the setting for movies- theatrical performances- book launchings- as well as a source of inspiration for many writers and artists. Today Mrs. Maria Teresa Celli is ready to begin Hotel Locarnos new adventure- a new and complete refurbishment entrusted to the famous hands of Jacques Garcia- a famous French architect whose work is renowned all over Europe. Garcia and Mrs Celli have developed the project striving to enhance the existent resources maintaining the shabby chic style and atmosphere which have made Hotel Locarno a reference point in Roman hospitality. Valet parking is also available at a charge. Additional Information - Children aged 2 and under stay free in the room with parents and in existing bedding. Children aged 3-12 receive a 50pct reduction. Children over this age will be considered an adult.
