About Genmyoan

GENMYOAN is an inn nestled high on a hill overlooking the scenic beauty of Amanohashidate/ the natural land bridge pictured here. This formation is traditionally considered one of Japan's three famous scenic views. Our unique inn creates an ideal atmosphere for those who appreciate ancient Japanese disciplines and arts/such as Zen meditation/origami/tea ceremony/and ikebana. The lobby is especially irresistible/with displays of antique figurines/calligraphy/and lacquer ware. But dominating all is the view of the long/sinuous land bridge.Seen through the wide glass/ Amanohashidate is said to resemble a magnificent dragon/seemingly climbing the window frames. This superb view can be enjoyed from 14 of the 17 guest rooms. It makes the perfect backdrop for savoring Kyoto-style kaiseki/a traditional array of dishes in many small courses/focusing on the delicacies of the season. You also look out on Amanohashidate as you relax in deep/hot water in the large bathing rooms/or make use of exercise equipment and multi-media in our special lounge. Secluded in a pine forest at the top of a solitary hill/ GENMYOAN speaks intimately to those who appreciate a quiet/ natural retreat. With no other buildings in the area/ it is like being in a private world. For atmosphere/ service/ sea views and cuisine/ Ryokan GENMYOAN is your best choice over any hotel or other accommodations in the Amanohashidate area of Kyoto Prefecture.

Amanohashidate/ meaning Bridge of Heaven is a sandbar 3.6 kilometers in length/ created by sand laved over from the Noda River and the Sea of Japan. It is renowned as one of three prominent beauty spots in Japan. Its colonnade of some 8/000 Japanese black pines has been chosen for inclusion in both the Top 100 Routes in Japan and the Top 100 Pine Stands in Japan Legend of old called it a floating bridge created when a ladder/ built for earthly descents by the mythological gods/fell from their heaven. Ryokan Genmyoan is on the Sea of Japan in the north part of Kyoto Prefecture about 120 kilometers from Kyoto City. Trains from Kyoto Station or Osaka Station take just over two hours to nearby Amanohashidate Station.
