Already in the Middle Ages a family of nobility was the owner of the castle. It was renovated in 1850 the owner at that time created a roof timber construction in the form of a chalet. From 1937 the beautiful estate served as a monastery. When the clergy left it behind it was left empty until the International Art Center and Chateau De Raay established themselves on the old and unique estate in 1999. In four years time and with great international elan the castle and its interior were totally restored down to the smallest details. Chateau De Raay is one of the most special hotels in the Netherlands and Europe.
