The tenement, where hotel ?Maksymilian is located, is in the list of monuments of Cracow. It was built in 1871 as the one of the first tenements at Karmelicka Street. It was at the historical tract between Szewska Gate, Cracow suburbs Na Piasku? and villages Czarna Wie? and ?obzi??w. The building was designed by Maksymilian Nitsch, one of the most important architect living in 70s and 80s of XIX c. At first the tenement was the architects family house. His flat was probably situated at the first floor of front building. From 2008 to 2010 the building was completely transformed. The back part and the ground floor building in the backyard were built. Also, the stylish front view was renovated. The purpose was to keep shape, character and atmosphere of the stylish tenement.

Hotel ?Maksymilian is situated at the most attractive for touristic reasons street. It is situated 600 metres from Main Square. Nearby there is a wide range of shops, restaurants, pubs and cafes, open during a day and a night. Also, the greatest monuments of Cracow, like St Marys Basilica, Royal Castle, Sukiennice Cloth Hall or Barbakan are within a very short distance, which makes the place more attractive.
