Opened in 2005 this may be the better new small boutique hotel outside Bucharest. Its narrow 1890s facade hides a 400 year old building stretching back to a small garden. Rooms are well designed and include several spacious airy apartments with private views away from street noise. Brasov also known by its Saxon name Kronstadt was settled in the 13th century to become a highly fortified and wealthy merchant outpost of the Holy Roman Empire and then the Austro-Hungarian Empire the end of WW I. The inn and its cellar restaurant face the towns large and bustling central town square restored in recent years.
