Hotel Gastis is located in the centre of Jokkmok, the same area as the popular Vintermarknaden, which takes place in the beginning of February. The District of Jokkmokk is on the Arctic Circle and is Swedens next largest district in size. Half of this area consists of an extensive mountain region where you can get all the adventure you want. There are national parks and a number of nature reserves. Sarek, Padjelanta, Stora Sjofallet and Muddus belong to the Laponia area, which in December 1996 UNESCO nominated one of the earths World Heritage sites.
