The landscape, especially around Siljan, is as picturesque as an outdoor stage bedecked for a folklore festival, but there is also a feeling of lonely melancholy in the gently undulating ridges of forest-upon-forest. Perhaps the most relaxing activity is to put on a pair of suitable shoes or boots and get out into the countryside. The walker can choose between several long-distance paths. The Siljan Way, both for cyclists and walkers, takes you round the whole district. You can walk along the Vasalopp Way, following the tracks of Swedish historical heroes. There is excellent fishing, an abundance of plants and animals, as well as breathtaking scenery to be admired. Make a stop at one of the old mountain cabins and feel the sweep of history. Or why not enjoy the surroundings from the water - Siljan, as everybody knows, is Swedens most beautiful lake. In the winter, there are several excellent tracks for skiers and snow mobiles.
