About Selcuklu Evi Cave Hotel
Selcuklu Evi is a beautiful boutique hotel and a fine example of Seljuk architecture. Situated in a small lane surrounded by local homes and gardens this area has panoramic views of rock hewn caves and the old village of i??rgi??p. This antique house has been lovingly restored by hand. The local craftsmen of i??rgi??p spent 2 years to complete the restoration. Each block was quarried from the local area and then manually sculptured and leveled before becoming part of Selcuklu Evi. As much as possible of the original house has been preserved, although many years of decay and erosion had left limited resources. Each motif and impression on the stones has a story and that is why this restoration is so unique.
Thanks to the irresistible generosity of the Natural Mother, Cappadocia (which means "Land of beautiful horses") is a unique holiday place. The soil is formed from a very soft volcanic terrain, ash and lava eroded from volcanoes. Rivers, streams, rains, snow and ice shaped this ground. Erosion is the source of this supernatural landscape. However, Cappadocia's big reputation as being a magnificent place to visit is also thanks to the generous hospitality of its inhabitants. These people left as inheritance many chapels with frescoes and churches hidden in valleys, subterranean cities and cave dwellings. Caravanserais and medersas are evidences of the most recent empires such as Seldjoukides. i??rgi??p, located right in the heart of Cappadocia, is an ideal point of departure for your daily excursions through the region.
