Grasshoppers is a new affordable luxury hotel at Glasgow Central Station in the city centre next to the Financial District, the prime shopping, some of the best city restaurants and the main cultural attractions. The hotel is on the top floor of Caledonian Chambers a classical stone clad building designed by Glaswegian architect James Millar and completed in 1905. The hotel top floor penthouse views include MacKintoshs famed Lighthouse building. The hotel offers 30 sleek and stylish bedrooms with a decor which combines a modern urban look with Scandinavian influences and traditional features to create a stylish but warm relaxing atmosphere. The bedrooms have high ceilings, elegant cornices and large casement windows which make the bedrooms light and airy. The bedroom floors are Caledonian Oak and the walls are a combination of wooden panelling and handmade wallpapers. Works by Glaswegian artists are hung in the bedrooms are along the corridor walls. The exclusive ash and laminate bedroom furniture has been designed and made for Grasshoppers. The lighting is by Pedrali as are the chairs. The guest facilities in the bedrooms are extensive and include slim line Samsung televisions each with an HD Sky Box with Sky Sports and Movies. There is free high speed internet access. There is a choice of fresh milk with ground coffee in each room. The king size beds and mattresses are handmade and the bed linen is Egyptian cotton with both European and UK size pillows. There are power showers and Grohe fittings and a range of Arran Aromatic toiletries in each shower room. Breakfasts and evening meals are provided in The Kitchen and use where possible local ingredients. There is a bar.
