Buffalo, New York States second largest city, is gateway to the mighty Niagara Falls and a great destination for business or pleasure travel. Once home to heavy manufacturing, Buffalo now is a center for bioinformatics and human genome research. A consortium called the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus heads much of this research. The consortium includes such notables as the University at Buffalo, the Rosswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo Hearing and Speech Center, Hauptman-Woodward Medical Research Institute, Cleveland BioLabs and Upstate New York Transplant Services. Buffalo also claims the headquarters of M&T Bank, a Fortune 500 company, and hosts major operations of HSBC Bank USA, the sponsor of the local sports arena for the National Hockey League Buffalo Sabres. Since sports and banking can work up quite an appetite, be glad that Buffalo is not only famous for spicy hot wings, but is also home to Rich Products, a huge family-owned food manufacturer, and the American headquarters of the worlds largest beer producer, InBev. If it seems there are lots of hat-wearers in Buffalo, there is a reason. In 2007, New Era Cap Company, the largest sports-licensed headwear company in the United States, opened their new headquarters in Buffalo. Canada is a major trading partner for the United States. Buffalos location in the heart of what is called the Northern Trade Corridor, as well as its five international bridges, make it a key hub for North American trade. When business is done, Buffalo is a great place for sports and outdoor recreation. Take time to enjoy a Buffalo Bills or Buffalo Sabres game. The more adventurous may head out for great fishing, boating, canoeing, kayaking, golf and other nature tourism activities.
