Near Amarillo International Airport, Bell Helicopter Textron operates the Military Aircraft Assembly Center, where it builds the V-22 Osprey and performs upgrades on the Cobra and Huey helicopters. Other industrial employers in Amarillo include Pantex, the only nuclear weapons assembly and disassembly facility in the nation, and ASARCO, a large mining company. ASARCOs Amarillo operation is a copper refinery that produces 375 million pounds of refined copper a year. In addition to drawing business travelers, Amarillo has much to offer the tourist. Showcasing an important part of the American West is the American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame and Museum. This museum traces the history of this great American horse from colonial times to present day using interactive exhibits, dramatic video presentations and live demonstrations.
