Downtown Salt Lake City features Temple Square with the six-spired granite Salt Lake Temple as its crowning centerpiece. This venue is an especially impressive sight to see at Christmastime when thousands of lights are twinkling from the squares abundant collection of trees. Downtown is a great place to see live theater at the Capitol Theatre or at the Pioneer Theater which is located at the University of Utah. If you want comedy, the Off Broadway Theater (OBT) is a hotspot for exceptional improv. This central city district a bustling hub of activity. And of course, no visit would be complete without a stop at the Utah State Capitol Building, which is set on 40 beautiful acres. If you're visiting in September, be sure to check out the Utah State Fair, held each year in Salt Lake City. This city is the international headquarters for the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints and houses the Mormon Temple and Mormon Tabernacle. Hiking and biking are just minutes from downtown, and the surrounding areas of Salt Lake City offer stunning views of the natural desert landscape. Salt Lake City golf is also top-notch, no matter what your skill level. There are nine public golf courses offering gorgeous greens.
